Moonlight: the true struggle for LGBTQ+

Moonlight came out in the UK at the beginning of the month, and has been nominated for many awards, but what is the buzz about this film?

The movie tells the story of Chiron, a black boy that lives in the “hood”. The film looks at Chiron’s life, from his childhood till adulthood.

But the most important thing is the struggle that he has coming to terms with his homosexuality.

He is then targeted by bullies, who target him for not being a “man”. The film represents the rawness of what is like to be a minority (gay) inside of another minority (African American), and how much he has to hide and struggle to accepted himself and be accepted by others in the world.

The story is incredible, and the actors are amazing at portraying their characters, especially Mahershala Ali who did a fantastic job as a supporting actor.

This is a film that shows another side of the LGBTQ+ community, it is a new story showing what really that happens out there, and people need to know that if it is hard for a privileged person it is even harder for the unprivileged.

That’s why the film is getting such a buzz, and you should go and watch this amazing story.
