Europe’s Best Car Parks
Accusations are rife that voters were ill-informed on the repercussions of leaving the European Union when they voted on Thursday 23 June 2016. We agree. How could we have taken such a decision without considering the pressing matter of Europe’s Best Carparks? Luckily, Smoke Radio’s Stephen Small is addressing this issue in a series of European visits to carparks across the continent…
First on the agenda was The Metropolia Car Park in Gdansk, Poland. This destination was chosen using the scientific method of going on to the Ryanair website and selecting the cheapest place to fly to.
Upon arrival to Gdansk the perfect car park had to be found. After being in the country a mere 30 minutes we found The Metropolia Car Park, with a revolving elephant enticing you in. You couldn’t say no.
It’s important to note that The Metropolia Car Park does not stick to the industry norms, oh no, they like to change things up, there was no tarmac or white lines in sight. Instead, concrete paving and different colour paving to act as space dividers. This certainly divided the reviewing team, with Stephen loving it and trusty companion Oliver Browning remaining sceptical, stating “as an Englishman that’s all I work by, solid white lines”.
White lines aside, knowing the size of the spaces is very important. Unfortunately, Stephen came ill-equipped and didn’t have a tape measure. However, this led to a new revolutionary measuring method, size 11 vans. Using this new measuring technique we discovered that the spaces are 6 and ¾ size 11 vans in width, the new European standard.
