Gosha Rubchinskiy’s new collection with Burberry has real attitude
Streetwear has been inspiring the fashion world for a few years now, and many designers have underlined its influence on the market. Emerging designers have immersed this trend into their aesthetic, one of them being Gosha Rubchinskiy.
Gosha Rubchinskiy is a Russian brand that takes its influences from the communist era, youth culture and street style. As this trend is gaining more followers, established, luxury designers try to tap into it, and the best way to do this is by collaborative projects with stars of this niche market.
One current example is the capsule collection released by the before mentioned designer in collaboration with Burberry. Rubchinskiy approached Burberry’s Cristopher Bailey to work together, and this resulted in eight pieces incorporated in the rave-inspired S/S 2018 collection of the Russian brand.
The mix of the two visions gave birth to sporty looking garments which included the well known Burberry staples: the check print, the trench coat and the gabardine. The project reunites two unique aesthetics: the Western, classic one and the Eastern, youthful vision, making the pieces unique and desirable for the customers of both brands.
The collection is a clear sign that high fashion is trying to change its attitude and be more approachable by accepting the up-and-coming designers and the trends that bubble up from the street. The fashion industry is looking up to January when the collection will be available, and it’s a sure thing it will sell out.
