Smoke Radio held its first ever Smoke Radio Talks with BBC Radio 1 Presenter Scott Mills.

The event took place at the Fyvie Hall at the University of Westminster’s Regents Street campus and was hosted by by Stephen Small who is the current host of Small Talk on Smoke Radio.

Scott talked about his start in radio at the age of 11 and went on to become the youngest presenter on mainstream commercial radio in the country at 16.

He gave advice about breaking into the radio industry. One advice that stood out was to persevere despite rejection and receiving negative feedback. Scott suggested treating their criticism as opinion and not viewing it as the end of your radio career.

Rhys Gunter, station manager of Smoke Radio saw Smoke Talks as “an absolute success.”

“Scott Mills provided us with a real insight into this life, career and provided fantastic advice to budding broadcasters,” Rhys added.
