SmokeMag win at Student Publication Awards!
SmokeMag picked up an award for ‘Highly Commended Best Magazine design’ last weekend at this years Student Publication Awards National Conference.
SPANC, hosted by Cardiff University and their student paper Gair Rhydd is a weekend of networking and helpful talks from professionals with experience in the media industry.
Lama EL Khamy, the outgoing Editor-in-Cheif had this to say, “We are so proud of the designs that we’ve produced this year and it feels amazing to be recognised on a national platform. I can’t to see what the Mag can achieve next year”.
The team also got to meet up with all the other student media teams from across the UK and Ireland.
“The swap shop is especially great because you can get ideas from the other magazines, papers, most of which are really impressive and get to see what the competition are capable of” said SmokeMag Art Director Michael Ward. “Last year in Leeds we were inspired at the swapshop. We saw how we wanted our magazine to represent our students, and that was the motivation behind this years redesign.”
SmokeMag have been working really hard on the mag this year and hopefully, they can bring home another award at next years event! To get involved with SmokeMag or join the editors committee for September, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or message one of the team.
